Black Patent Malt
Sharp roasted malt — color and bite.
Description
Heavily roasted barley malt with a sharp, almost acrid edge. Patented in 1817 by Daniel Wheeler, originally to mimic the dark color of brown malts. Use 1–5% in porters and stouts for color and roast bite. Easy to overdo.
